1 54 Par, St. Austell A30 to Redruth then A390 to Truro (lunch 38mls) and St. Austell. Continue on the A390 and take turning on right for Par.      
2 64 Steps Bridge, Dunsford A390 to Lostwithiel, Liskeard and Tavistock (lunch 36mls). Take the B3357 to Two Bridges then the B3212 to Dunsford.      
3 50 Trull, Taunton B3212 to and through Exeter at Whipton take the B3181 for 5 miles approx then take the A38 direction Appledore & Cullompton (lunch 27mls) .  
      Continue on A38 passing Rumaell Park south of Taunton then turn right onto Comeytrowe Lane towards Trull.        
4 35 Dundry, Bristol Trull Road to Taunton then A38 to Bridgewater, Highbridge and Axbridge (coffee 24mls) then on to Collitters Brook Farm.      
                                   
5 66 Aymestry, Leominster Yardley Lane to the A370 right turn towards Bristol. Continue over the river basin on the A3029/A370 then join the A4 going west and keeping the river on your left.
      Continue on the A4 then join the A403 towards the Severn Bridge. Cross the bridge near the entrance to the Services area on the north side.  
      Once across the bridge take the A466 towards Monmouth (lunch at Wormelow or Kings Thorn 45mls). Continue on the A466 towards Leominster.
      Pick up the A49 to Hereford then take the A438 westbound and soon after take the A4110 northbound to Aymestry.      
6 58 Prees Heath, Whitchurch North on the A4110 towards Leintwardine then take the B4367 towards Craven Arms where you turn left onto the A49 to Church Stretton (coffee 26mls).
      continue on the A49 towards Shrewsbury (lunch 36mls) then through the city on the A5112 to rejoin the A49 towards Prees heath.    
7 65 Barton, Preston Take the A49 then A41 to Whitchurch turn onto the B5395 to traverse the city and rejoin the A49 towards Torporley then Cuddington (coffee 20mls).
      Continue on A49 towards Warrington and Wigan. Stay on the A49 through Golborne and on to Ashton-in-Makerfield (lunch 40mls).    
      Continue on the A49 towards Wigan, Chorley and Preston. At Leyland go under the M6/M65 junction staying on the Wigan Road and join the A6 to Barton.
8 65 Penrith Continue north on the A6 towards Lancaster and Carnforth. Just after Carnforth take the A6070 to Kendall (lunch 40mls).      
      Take the A6 out of Kendall towards Shap and Penrith.                  
9 59 Moffat Leave Penrith on the A6 towards Carlisle (coffee) then join the A7 for a short section until you pass the Kingstown Industrial Estate then turn left for Kingstown.  
      This road to Gretna may not have a number but it could be the B7076 but keep the M6 close to you on your right.          
      In any event you will arrive into Gretna on the B7076 then turn right just after Gretna Green railway station continuing on the B7076 to Lockerbie (lunch 43mls).
      After Lockerbie continue on the B7076 until joining the A701 in the direction of Moffat.            
10 64 Clydebank, Glasgow Leave Moffat and rejoin the B7076 towards Lesmahgow join the A702 about mile 13 near Crawford then leave the A702 at mile 19 to join the B7078 towards Larkhall.
      At Larkhall join the A72 which quite quickly becomes the A724 towards Cambuslang then join the A749 just after Glasgow Green (Park).  
      Stay on the A749 to a T junction with the A8 main road then turn left towards the river picking up the A814 just before the bridge towards Partick and the West.
      Continue on the A814 then just after Yoker as you are leaving the city turn right onto the A8014.          
11 42 Crianlarich Retrace the A8014 back to the A814 turn right towards Dumbarton then take the A82 at Milton. Stay on the A82 to Tarbet (lunch 25mls). Stay on the A82 to Crianlarich.
                                   
12 62 Spean Bridge Continue on the A82 towards Glencoe through Achallader (coffee 15mls) and Glenachulish (lunch 39mls). Stay on A82 to Spean Bridge and stop at Stronaba.
13 53 Beauly Continue on the A82 towards Invermoriston via Fort Augustus (coffee 21mls) onwards to Drumnadrochit (lunch 39mls).      
      Leave Dromnadrochit on the A831 towards Milton just after Milton turn right onto the A833 towards Kiltarlity and Beauly after joining the A862.  
14 50 Golspie Leave Beauly on the A862 Conan Bridge then after Dingwall (10 miles) join the A9 towards Alness (coffee 20 mls) and Tain (lunch 33 mls). Stay on the A9 to Golspie.
15 52 Wick Continue north on the A9 towards Helmsdale and Berridale (coffee 25 mls) continue on to Wick via the A99 towards Lybster (lunch 39 mls).  
16 18 John O’Groats Leave Wick on the A99 to John O’Groats (champagne 18 mls).

    We hope you are not too tired and blistered after day one! We are all thinking of you and look forward to following your progress. Just to say Barry and I helped Richard and Jenni Herret do a hog roast at ‘Kangaroos’ yesterday – Alex’s chosen charity and seeing all the children have so much fun, it makes what you are all doing so worthwhile.

    hopefully by now you have finally left the west country and are zooming through south wales. Wishing you better weather than we are having here, the wind behind you and flat terrain from now on!!
